In a matter of a few days, students will pile into vans and make the arduous trek through the winter tundra of Northeast Ohio to Skyview Ranch in Millersburg. Away from the distractions of school, social media, TV, and generally useless information, students will have the opportunity to hear God’s Word taught in a different location and worship Him with other Christ-followers gathered for the same purpose.
The theme for this year’s Retreat is “Out of the Shadows,” exploring some of the sins and struggles of life that can make us feel like we are in a place of complete darkness with no hope. The answer, of course, is faith in Jesus Christ and the light-giving, life-giving truth He brings: “Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life’” (John 8:12, ESV).
Please pray for our students and leaders during this special time of worship. Pray that we all lay our hearts before the truth of God’s Word and willingly invite the Holy Spirit to convict, edify, and shape our hearts into the image of Jesus Christ. Pray also for the students who are not taking the trip for a variety of reasons that they might not be burdened with the feeling of being left out but would pursue Christ as well during that weekend and look forward to hearing good news from the students who return from Skyview.
