For twenty five years Cornerstone Bible Church has been seeking “to glorify Jesus Christ by leading people to know Jesus, grow into His likeness, and go make Him known to others.” That is the purpose statement of our church and what we have desired to commit ourselves to doing in every aspect of our ministry. For we are not seeking to advance our kingdom but God’s. It is our hope that God would continue to use our church for His purposes for generations to come.
One way that we believe that we could enhance our ministry to this area would be through constructing a facility of our own. Six years ago, the Lord allowed us to finish the construction of our Ministry Center which has given us the opportunity to minister in a greater degree through Bible Studies, Counseling, Student Ministries and many other special events. Now we believe that it is time to construct a facility to further enhance our ministry to this area but also to set up the generations that will follow after us to proclaim the gospel for generations to come.
We thank God for the past twenty five years of being able to gather on Sunday mornings at Camp Burton and at various schools within the area. But we look forward to the day that we can come together under one roof that is dedicated to the teaching of God’s Word, a place where those who are not saved are being reached with the gospel, and a facility where brothers and sisters in Christ are consistently coming together “to stir up one another to love and good works” (Hebrews 10:24).
In order for us to have a facility like that it is going to take a tremendous sacrifice from our church family. People are going to have to give financially. We have some building plans put together and it’s going to cost approximately one million dollars to construct. This is where we are going to ask you to pray. What could you contribute towards this building project?
This Sunday you will be given a commitment card along with a prayer calendar. We’re asking you to spend the month of October and the first couple of weeks in November praying about this project and what God would lead you to give towards it. On Saturday November 10 beginning at 6pm, the Elders would like to invite you to join them in taking a 24 hour fast. Then at 6pm on November 11, we are inviting the church family to come together for a potluck meal to break the fast together. At that time we will turn in our commitment cards and in the days to follow we will determine if we have the appropriate funds to start moving forward.
We believe that it is time to construct a church facility, but we don’t want to act foolishly. Please join us in prayer as we seek to take a step of faith.
